Way back in the 1980s, when life was rough and fun at the same time, I got involved with a local Rocky Horror Picture Show group. For those not in the know The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a campy failed musical film that found a second life as a midnight movie. During the presentations fans would dress up as the characters and mime out the film in front of the screen, while the audience participated with MST3K style lines shouted back in response to dialog and events in the story. The story is one of mad science, aliens, Rock and Roll, and of course, Sex. The costumes for the film are outlandish, daring, and ignore normal gender roles. Continue reading

This is your official ‘I told you so’
Sarah Palin announces she will not run for President.
All those weak-kneeded sister who quaked and quivered at the though of President Palin can calm the frak down. This woman is in her happy spot of celebrity and money, she’s not budging from it.
It looks to me like there are no more Great Right Hopes left to save the Republican Party from itself. I suspect the base will hold there nose next November and vote for Romney, just like they did for the hated McCain.
disgusted
So you want me to believe that the conservative resistance to the HPV vaccine is purely about ‘Parental Rights’, or concerns that our children are being over immunized? How naïve do you think I am? (I’m not even touching Michelle ‘Madman’ Bachmann’s Jenny McCarthy’s like idiocy.)
Let’s take a quick look at recommended immunizations for children according to CDC.
Chicken Pox –Air and direct contact vectors
Diphtheria – Air and direct contact
Hib – Air and direct contact
HepA – Personal contact, Food, Water
Hep B – Blood, bodily fluids
Measles – Air and Direct Contact
Mumps – Air and direct contact
Pertussis – air and direct contact
Polio – via the mouth
Pneumococcus – air and direct contact
Rotavirus – through the mouth
Rubella – air and direct contact
Tetanus – breaks in the skin
HPV – sexual activity
Only ONE of these immunizations has the conservatives in a lather, but I’m supposed to accept the premise that it’s NOT about the sex, but only a logical question of parental rights that somehow doesn’t get raised for any of the other immunizations? Yeah, right, and I’ve got some Unicorns to sell you.
If this was a fringe group grousing about the injections, sort like the fluoridation nuts of years past, I could ignore the whole issue, but these people are in the driver’s seat for the selection process for the presidential nominee. Leading politicians are bending knees and groveling to these idiots who believe it is better to risk cancer than sexual activity.
Why I am not going to vote for Gov. Perry
If someone does not accept evolution as the explanation for speciation of life, then that person is either ignorant, (Never learned the Science), an Idiot (Incapable of understanding the science) or a huckster (Knows the truth but is lying for his or her own end.) I will never vote for someone who places creationism on the same plane as science.
Not Buying it.
Curious isn’t it?
When it comes to the economy, I read that Obama must stop blaming bush. It’s been two years, this is Obama’s economy now, not Bush’s.
However when the subject turns to Osama bin Ladin, well that’s different, Obama must stop taking all the credit and acknowledge the debt he owes to President Bush.
This sort of thinking is why I cannot be a partisan. I could never hold both positions at the same time.
Osama bin Laden, DEAD
This is truly good news. Osama bin Laden, evil fuck, killed by American Special Forces, his body taken by those forces and now in our possession.
I wish it had happened sooner, but I am very happy it happened. There are few human beings that can cause me to cheer at their demise, but this fucker was one of them.
There are those who will ask does this affect the 2012 political season; those questions are for another day. Put donw your R’s and Put down your D’s for one flippin’ moment and just enjoy the fact this evil evil man not only is dead, but had his death handed to him by our best and our brightest.
Punting our Problems
So, a few weeks ago the White House released its official budget proposal and while it offered some cuts it did not take a stand on the most pressing issue on our budget and that is the big three, Entitlements, Defense, and Social Security. Those three areas are huge and no serious attempt at taking on our spending problem can be amassed without addressing those three areas. Obama punted, plan and simple. He may have punted from practical political purposes, let the Republicans take the lead and the heat on these issues, but it is a punt and we need leadership not punting.
While we were in the throes of the nastiest recession in many decades I was willing to wait and let the man handle the crisis before judging him on the long term. Well, we are growing again, sadly very slowly and job growth is beneath anemic, so now it is time to turn to the long term health of our country.
In a few weeks, April I think, the Republican Congress will put forth their budget. They have promised to take on the big problem and I hope that they do. We will see. If they do not seriously address the big three, and I mean in the short term not some plan to fix them with massive changes years and years down the line, then we will know that they are not serious either.
The Pernicious Prevarication of The Instapundit
So there I was doing political blog reading the other day when I came across this posting from Instapundit:
CONGRESSIONAL BUDGET OFFICE: ObamaCare Repeal Would Save $1.4 Trillion.
This is a very typical type of posting from Professor Reynolds. Short, makes a dramatic point, and linking to further information. It is also an excellent example of how he prevaricates with this short pithy posts. Someone who was justing reading down the numerous posting for that day would read the slug, come away with the impression that repealing Healthcare reform would save us 1.4 trillion dollars, and move on. I followed the link because it seemed at odds with what knew of the situation. Maybe I was wrong and I wouldn’t going to dismiss the concept out of hand. Continue reading
Some thoughts on the Wisconsin Issues
First: Once again we have the horribly heated rhetoric in which your opponents are automatically the equivalent to Hitler and or the Nazis. This, as it was with the protest on the right, is simply absurd. While the move to break a set of public worker unions is a major political step, one certain to generate intense feelings, it is not in any way comparable to the degenerate, racist, insane positions of the NAZI party. This is a perfect example as to why I dislike extremes in nearly all its forms, it is blinding and when you are cocooned in its comfortable black-and-white world you are unreeachable by reason or rational thought.
