My Big Fat Geek Weekend.

This weekend I will not be watching a Sunday Night Movie feature. (which is apparently the number driver of traffic to this blog.) Instead I will be hosting a Harry Potter weekend. All eight Harry Potter films, screened over two days. I picked up the blu-ray of all the film in November and now I going to watch the series over the weekend. I have friends coming over and my dear sweetie wife is talking about making us chili. (Because I have no tolerance for spicy food this has become known as Bob’s False Alarm Chili.)

As I love to plan, I have so many plans I should have been a Russian, here is the schedule of the screenings.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone — 152 min (2:32) 9:15 to 11:47

I assume you mean only multi-film a series with a single intended storyline, because James Bond has 22 and 23 is coming soon. Gozilla is not only King of The Monsters, he’s King of The Franchises as well with 28 films.

So, by my calculations, J. K Rowling has come close to achieving a goal stated by George Lucas around the time that he finished the second “Star Wars” film (which is actually the fifth film – weird) – that the story had 12 films and that he envisioned a theater that would show “Star Wars” 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year round. Total run time of the Potter films = approximately 19 hours, 40 minutes. Allowing for breaks and theater cleaning, I think that’s as close to 24 hours as any franchise has ever come. Am I right?

Enjoy. I did a complete rewatch when I picked up the last film. I have all on blue ray, but 6 sets of special editions.
